The Transport Museum in Chapel Lane, Wythall, has joined together with Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings in Bromsgrove to take families back in time on Fathers’ Day - Sunday 15th June. The Transport Museum, Wythall, will be hosting on both Saturday and Sunday an anniversary rally for Morris J light vans. These were revolutionary when introduced in 1948 and the organisers hope around forty will appear over the weekend. At Wythall you will find around 100 classic buses, coaches and battery-electric vehicles, one of the largest collection of these vehicles in the UK. The volunteer-run museum recently enjoyed a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and its new exhibition hall combines a fascinating selection of the museum’s vehicles, dating across the 20th century, with supporting displays. Heritage buses and the miniature steam railway will be running on both days at Wythall. This includes buses on Fathers’ Day to Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings which will be holding a ‘Best of British’ car rally for Dads and others to enjoy among the beautiful historic buildings. Plus at Avoncroft there will be a special vintage car trail and activities for children to take part in. The two museums will be offering a special deal where one adult goes free when accompanied by another adult upon presentation of the other museum’s ticket. This means that Dads can enjoy two museums and a bus trip on Fathers’ Day! The bus ride will be £1.50 each way (75p for children).
